Position Summary

The Sales Manager – North America is responsible for executing the company’s commercial strategy in the North American market. This position will focus on expanding TARGAN’s market presence, driving commercial growth, and ensuring our poultry automation platforms (specifically WingScan, the gender sorting machine for hatcheries) are clearly differentiated and positioned in the marketplace.

This is an individual contributor role, critical to developing our presence in the region through regional market development, strategic account management, sales forecasting, and budget management.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Commercial Strategy & Execution: Contribute to the development and drive the execution of the company’s strategy related to our poultry hatchery automation platforms (specifically WingScan, our gender sorting machine) to achieve sales goals in North America.
  • Sales & Account Management:
  • Take full accountability for developing and executing the sales plan for the assigned North American territory to achieve regional sales targets.
  • Act as a consultative partner to customers, engaging directly to diagnose their unique challenges and architect solutions using Targan’s automation technology.
  • Sell machines under our Machine-as-a-Service (MaaS) business model, effectively communicating the value proposition of continuous service, maintenance, and operational alignment over traditional ownership.
  • Develop strategic accounts, identifying key stakeholders, understanding their needs and pain points, and building strong business relationships with them.
  • Prepare customer proposals, including Targan’s products and integrated third-party automation equipment.
  • Collaborate with regional MSD Animal Health teams to identify and execute synergistic opportunities that deliver integrated value to our customers and drive growth for the broader organization.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather and clearly communicate market intelligence related to competitor activities, customer needs, and areas for focus to other appropriate internal leaders.
  • Financial Management: Achieve financial obligations and targets based on the annual business plan. Manage expenses for the region to stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Brand Representation: Represent Targan at poultry industry trade shows, conferences, and customer forums to increase visibility and build credibility.

Key Competencies & Skills

  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets as an individual contributor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Business Acumen, Relationship Management, Negotiation, and Strategic Account Management.
  • Ability to effectively influence key stakeholders and drive business decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Deep domain expertise in poultry production systems, hatchery operations, and animal sexing or vaccination platforms.
  • Experience negotiating large-scale service contracts or complex commercial agreements, preferably under a Machine-as-a-Service (MaaS) or subscription-based framework.
  • Several years of experience in technical sales, capital equipment sales, or business operations, with in-depth knowledge of the poultry market.

Working Conditions

  • Location: This is a remote position. The candidate must be based in the United States, with the specific region of residence flexible and to be determined (TBD).
  • Travel: Frequent domestic and regional travel is required to visit customer sites, attend conferences, and conduct business meetings. Travel expectations are up to 50%.
