Job Description

The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research Labs Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

Are you excited about the potential of data science to make a real difference in patients' lives? Join the Healthcare Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE) within our company Value & Implementation Global Medical & Scientific Affairs (V&I GMSA) for a summer internship where your work will directly support how we understand and better serve the patients who rely on us.

As a Medical Data Scientist Intern, you'll work alongside experienced data scientists on our Oncology team, applying analytics to real-world healthcare questions such as understanding the existing standard of care, patient journeys, and patient profiles. This is a hands-on opportunity to grow your technical skills while contributing to work that matters.

What you'll do

Review literature and resources to build your knowledge of oncology Learn methodologies for analyzing real-world data (e.g., medical claims datasets, electronic health records) Prepare and process data for analysis Use analytic tools (Python, R, SAS, SQL) to conduct statistical and machine learning analyses and uncover insights Share your findings with the team and key stakeholders across Medical Affairs

Required Education and Skills

Currently enrolled with at least 2 years of undergraduate study completed Foundational knowledge of statistics and data analysis Working proficiency in at least one analytic programming language (Python, R, or SAS) Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) Comfort communicating findings clearly Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Education and Skills

Studying a technical field (e.g., computational biology, engineering, computer science) or a humanities/social science field with a quantitative focus (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, public health) Some graduate coursework completed Fluency in R or Python Experience with machine learning methods

Proficiency in SQL

Familiarity with a web application framework (e.g., Shiny, Streamlit, Dash) Prior healthcare or life science research experience Location This position can be completed remotely. Candidates located in Pennsylvania or New Jersey are preferred.

Salary range

The salary range for this role is $39,908 - $111,111 USD.
