Summary

The Senior Director of Data Center Business Development is responsible for setting and driving enterprise-level growth strategy across the data center ecosystem, including hyperscalers, colocation providers, developers, EPCs, and technology partners. This role will lead high-value, complex, multi-business-unit pursuits and develop executive-level strategic partnerships that accelerate Hitachi's data center business across power, digital, cooling, automation, and infrastructure solutions.

The role sits within the Growth & Business Development (CGO) organization and works closely with Hitachi Energy, Hitachi Digital, Industrial Equipment, and other Hitachi Group companies to shape and deliver integrated, end-to-end data center solutions.

Job Responsibilities

Define and lead business development strategy for data center markets across North America, including hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and AI data centers Identify, qualify, and advance large, complex strategic opportunities spanning power, grid, cooling, digital, automation, and infrastructure solutions Build and manage strategic partnerships and alliances with customers, EPCs, developers, and technology ecosystem partners Coordinate and lead cross-Hitachi collaboration across multiple business units to deliver integrated solutions and aligned commercial execution Own C-suite and senior executive customer engagement, including executive briefings, workshops, partnership discussions, and strategic alignment sessions Shape go-to-market strategy, value propositions, and differentiated solution positioning for data center customers Oversee opportunity pipeline development, deal strategy, and commercial alignment in partnership with sales, engineering, finance, legal, and delivery teams Represent Hitachi at industry conferences, customer forums, partner summits, and executive-level events Provide executive-level market intelligence, customer insights, and competitive perspectives to inform product strategy, investment priorities, and portfolio growth

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred 15+ years of experience in business development, sales, strategy, partnerships, or general management within data centers, power infrastructure, energy, digital, automation, or related industries Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power systems, grid interconnection, cooling, digital platforms, automation, resiliency, and sustainability requirements Proven experience leading enterprise-scale, complex, multi-stakeholder pursuits and strategic partnerships Ability to influence, align, and lead effectively across matrixed, global organizations and multiple business units Executive-level communication, negotiation, commercial judgment, and stakeholder management skills Demonstrated ability to engage C-suite customers, shape strategic opportunities, and translate market needs into actionable growth plans Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

  • $255,900. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
