Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we’re helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back, and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.

Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Today, Backblaze generates over $100m in revenue and is the leading specialized storage cloud

  • managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.

But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are seeking a: Product Marketing Manager!

About the Role

The Product Marketing Manager, Platform will own how we position and sell B2 Cloud Storage to business buyers. This is a high-ownership, strategic role on a small, focused team. You will be responsible for the B2 platform narrative end-to-end: what it is, who it is for, why it wins, and how it is differentiated in the market.

B2 serves more than one kind of buyer. Most of your work will focus on our core business audience: backup, media, and general cloud storage use cases. But B2 is also the foundation for a fast-growing set of AI workloads, and you'll partner closely with our AI product marketing lead to make sure the platform narrative holds together as it stretches across both worlds.

You will work closely with the Director of Product Marketing, the sales team, and demand gen to ensure that Backblaze's platform story is sharp, current, and actionable at every stage of the buyer journey.

This is not a campaign execution role. Your job is to be a quarter ahead: researching, positioning, and enabling, so that the rest of the GTM team can execute with clarity

What You’ll Do

Develop compelling positioning and messaging for the B2 platform, informed by customer research, competitive analysis, and a deep understanding of our buyers and their journey Own the B2 platform narrative end-to-end and ensure it is consistent across every customer-facing surface, including how it extends into AI-driven use cases Build and maintain sales enablement materials that sellers actually use: talk tracks, kits, battle cards, and objection handling guides, kept current in real time rather than updated quarterly Conduct regular customer interviews and win/loss analysis to serve as the team's go-to source for buyer intelligence Partner with our AI product marketing lead to keep the core platform story and the AI-specific story aligned, so a prospect moving from one to the other never hits a seam Partner with demand gen to brief campaigns, define ICPs, and ensure messaging holds from first touch through close Enable customer-facing teams with the tools and context they need to have better conversations and close more deals Deliver a core messaging framework and initial sales enablement audit within your first 90 days

The Right Fit

We care less about years of experience and more about what you have actually done. Strong candidates will be able to point to specific examples of:

Taking ownership of a product narrative from scratch and seeing it through to sales adoption Running a customer research program and turning findings into positioning that changed how the team talked about the product Building sales enablement materials that sellers used, not just materials that got filed away Operating across multiple use cases and buyer personas without needing a narrow vertical to anchor to Comfort working alongside a fast-moving, technical adjacent team (like AI product marketing) without needing to own that space yourself 5+ years of technology marketing experience, including 3+ years in a dedicated product marketing role Background in cloud infrastructure, data storage, developer tools, or adjacent B2B SaaS spaces preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical concepts for business buyers
