JOB TITLE: Career Services Coordinator

STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly

TYPE: On-Campus / Hybrid as permitted by Campus Director

REPORTS TO: Sr. Career Services Advisor/Campus Director

PURPOSE

The Career Services Coordinator ensures all Smith Chason College future, current, and past students have the tools and information they need to be successful in their careers. The Career Services Coordinator assists in all aspects of Career Services including developing job leads and assisting graduates and alumni with their job search.

Assists in developing career building strategies, works with others in the Career Services Department to achieve objectives and to ensure school compliance with state and accreditation regulations relating to placement. This is a particularly important role in helping Smith Chason College deliver on the pledge we make to our students: our focus on providing a promising career through an engaging, instructive, and supportive environment that continues beyond graduation.

OVERALL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strong and viable resources to students and graduates in their job search

Provide resume building assistance to facilitate maximum placement opportunities for externship and graduated students

Use Smith Chason systems to maintain accurate electronic graduate and alumni files and database. All graduate job information and waiver information must be documented and verified

Quickly responds to requests for information and provide assistance

Promote importance of registries for all students and graduates

Keep current on all programs offered and continually seek to enhance program/school knowledge

Collaborate with other departments in a positive and productive manner to ensure a student-first environment

Additional duties as assigned by Sr. Career Services Advisor and/or Campus Director

OVERALL EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

One year of related administrative support experience required

Associate degree preferred. Acceptable experience includes career services; sales; recruiting; and job placement in a vocational industry

Strong technical skills including computer applications/programs, internet research, database management, and analytical skills

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, perform well under pressure, and meet deadlines

Non-negotiables include a positive attitude, the desire to help others, a self-driven nature, confident, and results-oriented

Be able to effectively collaborate with other team members to meet daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly campus objectives

Other necessary character traits include being a team player and having the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written

Always behave in a professional manner in way of appearance, demeanor, and attitude

Consistently display the highest levels of integrity in all that is done

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time

Can independently move objects up to 25 lbs.

Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, other office machinery, and perform repetitive motions

Must have sufficient hearing and speaking ability to communicate in person or on the phone/computer with others

Must be able to occasionally function in activities that include walking, bending, squatting, and reaching
