Position Summary

The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading and executing the overall sales strategy for Mayesh Wholesale Florist, a national wholesale floral distributor serving professional florists, event designers, wedding planners, mass market customers, and other floral industry partners. This executive leader drives revenue growth, customer acquisition, customer retention, market expansion, and sales team training and development while ensuring alignment with the company's culture, values, and strategic objectives.

The VP of Sales partners closely with the COO, Regional Manager, Branch Managers, Sales Team, Purchasing, Marketing, and Finance teams to deliver sustainable growth and exceptional customer experiences across all markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company's national sales strategy and annual sales plan.
  • Establish short- and long-term revenue growth objectives aligned with company goals.
  • Identify opportunities for market expansion, new customer acquisition, and increased market share.
  • Analyze industry trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.

Sales Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop Branch Managers, and sales teams across multiple markets.
  • Establish sales performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability measures.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Develop succession plans and identify future sales leaders within the organization.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Revenue Growth

  • Drive profitable sales growth across all branches and channels.
  • Develop strategies to increase customer retention, wallet share, and overall profitability.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Operations teams to align inventory strategies with customer demand.
  • Support new branch openings, acquisitions, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Participate in key customer meetings and business development opportunities.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained throughout the organization.
  • Strengthen relationships with strategic customers and key industry partners.
  • Partner with branch leadership to address customer concerns and improve service levels.
  • Champion customer-centric initiatives that enhance loyalty and retention.

Sales Analytics & Reporting

  • Monitor sales trends, forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify opportunities and improve business results.
  • Present monthly, quarterly, and annual sales performance reports to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Develop sales forecasting models and pipeline management processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Marketing to develop customer acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure product availability and market competitiveness.
  • Work with Finance to establish budgets, incentive plans, and profitability goals.
  • Support Human Resources in recruiting, developing, and retaining top sales talent.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead a geographically dispersed sales organization.
  • Build and maintain a high-performance culture.
  • Coach leaders through performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Foster collaboration among branches and departments.
  • Promote Mayesh's mission, values, and culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Management, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple locations or regions.
  • Experience leading large sales organizations with responsibility for revenue growth and profitability.
  • Wholesale distribution, floral industry, perishables, agriculture, or related industry experience strongly preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Regular visits to branch locations, customer accounts, industry events, and company meetings throughout the United States.

Compensation

  • Competitive executive base salary $150k-$180k
